Judges let Taliban suspect stay in BritainIN a new human rights scandal, judges have said a suspected Taliban member can stay in Britain after ruling his life would be in danger if he was deported to his native Afghanistan. Published: Mon, March 4, 2013 Judges have let a Taliban member seek refuge in Britain Abdul Martin Shizad, 20, was originally ordered to leave the UK last April after his bid for asylum was thrown out. But he mounted a legal challenge to the decision on human rights grounds, arguing he would face arrest and torture if sent back. In a ruling last week, the head of the Special Immigration Appeals Tribunal Sir Nicholas Blake QC, said Shizad had a “well-founded fear of persecution”. A Home Office spokesman said the Government was “extremely disappointed” adding: “We did not believe that this individual needed or deserved refuge in this country.”
