On Friday, AP reports that an assassination attempt aimed at Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio was foiled late Thursday evening.
Authorities are investigating an explosive device addressed to Arizona's Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff in America" known for his tough treatment of jail inmates and cracking down on illegal immigrants.
The bomb was intercepted in a post office box in Flagstaff. The explosives were addressed to Arpaio's Phoenix office and was delivered via mailed package. According to the sheriff's office, the package was X-rayed due to its suspicious nature, and the bomb was subsequently detected. A bomb squad team successfully disabled the device.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, assassination attempt
The 80-year-old sheriff shot to national prominence in March 2012 when his team of investigators concluded that President Barack Obama's birth certificate is a forgery. Several of the forensic experts also questioned the validity of Obama's Selective Service registration card, as well as, social security number. Those allegations prompted birther-related lawsuits in several states.
Also on Friday, a prominent birther website reported hacking of its online domains which prevented publishers from reporting key updates regarding ongoing litigationagainst Obama. The computer intrusions took place on Thursday and early Friday morning.
On April 12, Dr. Orly Taitz, who is among the plaintiffs, sent Republican Examiner the following message:
There is some type of cyber attack, which prevents me from posting on my web site. It often happens before an important court hearing against Obama. I am also experiencing problems with my computers.
In February, Taitz successfully got U.S. Supreme Court clerks to review potential evidence of forgery allegedly perpetrated by Obama and/or his staff. However, the nation's highest court declined to give a full hearing to the plaintiffs.
On Friday, Taitz's website experienced difficulty in managing files related to judicial evidence.
Yesterday I tried to post and went on my site several times. I was able to post only a couple of times and even then I could not add any files, which constituted evidence. I was not able to post pdf or jpg files.
